Getting to Mommy is a reconstructed diary of people, places and events, beginning with a later-in-life marriage and an inability to conceive a child at first. Then, after coming to terms with the possibility of never becoming a parent, beating incredible odds and giving birth to a daughter at the age of forty-three. Getting to Mommy deals primarily with the reactions and reflections of the author and others to situations which are both conventional and yet, at the same time, extraordinary.
