Pete’s Tire Barns Completes Rooftop Solar Project
Pete’s Tire Barns carries on green energy initiative with completion of solar powered plant, over 850 panels installed, reaffirms green commitment.
Orange, MA, July 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Pete’s Tire Barns of Orange, MA announced completion of a three quarter of a million dollar solar project at its Orange MA distribution center. This has been another step by Pete’s Tire Barns to reaffirm their commitment to reducing green house gases, improving sustainability, and reducing overall environmental impact.
The entire system, 850 photovoltaic panels, was installed on top of the 3 acre tire distribution center. The Photovoltaic solar panels will provide 170.10 kilowatts (kW), enough to power 25 average homes for a year. 50% of the solar panels were built in the USA and were installed by Nexamp, based in Andover, MA.
The solar powered retreading plant is part of Pete’s Tire Barns over arching green initiative plan. Pete’s Tire Barns recycles more than 80,000 pounds of rubber each month into floor mats and over 360,000 pounds of polyurethane each year. By retreading tires instead of creating new ones, over 1,000,000 gallons of oil will be saved each year. More information can be found at www.greenretreads.com, a special website created to follow Pete’s Tire Barns Green Initiatives and to learn more about the retread process.
