Thornton & Grooms Honors Local Charitable Groups Through Their Hearts & Heroes Award
Local company, Thornton & Grooms, helps out customer nominated charitable organizations with their Hearts & Heroes monthly award.
Farmington Hills, MI, July 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Thornton & Grooms, a local heating, cooling and plumbing company, is giving back to the community through their Hearts & Heroes Award. Seeing a need in the community, they came up with the Hearts to Heroes program to help local charitable groups and organization that have been facing the growing challenges of a down economy.
“At Thornton & Grooms we saw an opportunity to help the less fortunate in our community. When we started this program our mission was simple: inspire friends, neighbors and customers and other businesses to join together to help our community and families facing difficult times,” states Mike Bergstrom, Vice-President of Thornton & Grooms. Since the onset of this program Thornton & Grooms has donated $1000 each month to a nominated charity, totaling $19,000 to date.
South Oakland Shelter (SOS) was a recent recipient of this award. SOS is an organization that provides programs and resources to homeless individuals and families in need, partnering with 60 congregations to provide shelter for more than 30 families and individuals each year.
Some other recipients of the Hearts & Heroes Award have included Clarkston SCAMPS, Kids Kicking Cancer, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit, Common Ground, Birmingham Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra (BBSO), Coats for the Cold, and Art Road.
“We realize how great the need is with the number of entries we have received. Over the last year and a half, awarding and conversing with the recipients has been the highlight of each month,” says Bergstrom.
