Fairbanks First Launches Think Local Lecture Series

Fairbanks, AK, July 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Fairbanks First will hold the first of four programs in its Think Local Lecture Series on Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the auditorium of the Noel Wein Public Library. The series of discussions and presentations is aimed at business owners, consumers, and citizens of the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

The inaugural presentation will highlight the importance of a global mindset when operating a small business. It will stress the importance of local purveyors, service providers, contractors, and clientele in differentiating oneself from the competition. The presentation will also address consumer expectations and include expert advice. All of the programs in the Think Local Lecture series will be free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

Fairbanks First is a non-profit organization that encourages citizens and businesses of the Fairbanks North Star Borough to consider the economic impacts of their buying habits. If every household in the Borough dedicated themselves to shifting 10% of their spending back within the Borough, $376 Million worth of direct and indirect economic activity would be generated. This added economic activity would translate into over 1,700 well paying jobs and would help attract businesses, entrepreneurs, and outside investment into the area.
