Learning House Opens Professional Development Program
Learning House extends its professional development program to all instructors at higher education institutions.
Louisville, KY, July 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Learning House, Inc., an online education solutions partner, has announced its plans to open its online professional development program to instructors outside of its partner schools.
The professional development program, Learning Central, aims to improve the quality of online instruction at higher education institutions. The training is administered through a series of online courses designed to impart technical knowledge, coach instructors on best practices and boost instructors’ comfort level in teaching in an online environment.
“Our professional development courses have been greatly successful at our partner schools,” said R. Diane Kasselhut, Senior Director of Client Services at Learning House. “Experienced online instructors tell me how pleased they are with the additional knowledge they have gained from our best practices classes. Instructors who are new to the online environment and those who were reluctant to teach online have said they now look forward to the experience.”
At this time, Learning Central offers two tracks: Technology Training and Best Practices Training. Technology Training focuses on effectively using learning management systems, while Best Practices Training focuses on instructional techniques for online delivery. Together, the program provides instructors with a comprehensive understanding of course development and best practices in online instruction.
“I'm very pleased with both the quality and the content of the first Best Practices course (BP 101), and I look forward to taking the remaining Best Practices courses (BP 102 and BP 103),” said Rob Davis, a Learning Central participant and Dean of Online Education Services at Notre Dame College.
Previously, Learning Central courses had been offered exclusively to the 90 institutions that partner with Learning House. Now, all professional development courses will be available to adjuncts and instructors at any institution. Instructors or administrators wishing to partake in the training program may visit LearningCentral.LearningHouse.com to select and purchase their spots in the courses of their choice. Learning House will contact participants with their respective start dates and course instructions.
