San Diego, CA, July 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Surfrider Foundation, San Diego Chapter has launched its new website: http://sandiego.surfrider.org/. The dramatically redesigned website, created by a team of activists, and designed by a local web design firm, offers easier navigation, and the ability for the activists to upload their own content.

Local digital agency, Digital Operative donated their website design services to the chapter. “Working with Surfrider Foundation was as much a fulfillment of Digital Operative's triple bottom line principles as it was our own team members choosing who we could help locally, using our combined talents in digital strategy and website design. Surfrider was a natural choice for all of us as most of us are surfers. When you've got a group of people who are both passionate about giving back to the San Diego community and the beach culture, you're definitely going to get an 'all-hands-on-deck' approach,” said CEO, BJ Cook. “The new Surfrider website shows Digital Operative's abilities to help bring an organization's web presence into the modern digital age as well as showing why thorough user experience planning is key.”

The team chose Wordpress because it’s very simple to use, and allows for easy upload of content. “In today’s world, information on one of our issue campaigns or programs can change very rapidly, and we needed the ability to change that information ourselves,” said Belinda Smith, volunteer campaign manager for Know Your H2O. We also wanted the ability to integrate our blogs, our twitter feeds, and our videos.” The new site is expected to help the chapter and their activists have more and enhanced communication with the general public on all issues, like Save Trestles, Blue Water Testing results in Imperial Beach, the Carlsbad Desalination project, or their annual Paddle For Clean Water. “We could not have done it without the talented folks at Digital Operative,” said Ms. Smith. “We are stoked to have another up and coming business in San Diego do such great work for us.”

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers in Malibu, California, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 80 chapters worldwide. An overview of all of the San Diego Chapter’s current programs and events can be found on our website, www.surfriderSD.org, or by sending email to info@surfridersd.org.
