Bloomington, IN, July 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- A heartwarming, helpful story that touches on children bullying await in a Xlibris release.
Xlibris, the print-on-demand self-publishing services provider, announced today the release of Mia and the Dreaded Bullies. Here, author Charmina Mason imparts to children the importance of accepting differences as she touches on the often neglected yet alarming issue of childhood bullying.
Junior high school for the author was a little difficult. She found the need to defend herself for one single reason—for being taller than the other students. This experience led her to write this book, one that tells other girls that they are not alone. Mia and the Dreaded Bullies follow a teenage girl’s own struggle to handle Tina, the school bully. Tina and her clique of girls go out of their way to ensure that Mias’ life is difficult. Come along as Mia learns how to stand up for herself, and realizes that Tina is only as scary as she allows her to be.
“The inspiration for my book came from watching my ten-year-old daughter move gracefully from room to room, in one costume after another, wearing a pair of my high heels, oftentimes walking in them better than I do. I began thinking about how she’s grown in the last few months,” Mason shares. “She now stands a head taller than her friend who's eleven years old, and I knew that I had to think of a way to bring to her attention the need to arm herself with confidence. A way to tell her that she’s beautiful no matter what anyone says. So the challenge was to bring forth a piece of work that makes her laugh, and understand that yes she’s tall, and there’s nothing wrong with being tall.” – Charmina Mason
Mia and the Dreaded Bullies is a heartwarming book that children, parents, guardians, and educators will find very useful. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to www.Xlibris.com.
