Event Synopsis:
The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) proposed amendments to ASC Topic 450—Contingencies (formerly known as Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 5) that would change the disclosures that companies are required to make regarding the potential financial impact of litigation.
The proposed change has caused many companies to re-examine how they develop litigation disclosures for their annual and quarterly filings. The proposal has engendered controversy and the FASB and SEC staff are now reviewing companies’ compliance with current standards before deciding whether to proceed with the proposed amendments.
Accounting and finance staff, consultants, and corporate lawyers need to understand the FASB’s and SEC’s staff’s current interpretive positions and how they can affect future disclosures.
The Knowledge Group has assembled a panel of key thought leaders and regulators to help financial/tax executives understand all the important issues with respect to this important topic. This live webcast is a must attend for all financial/tax executives who need to be in the know with respect to this prejudicial standard for all companies.
