Green Nedap Librix RFID Technology for Library Security Systems
With the Librix Eco Reader, libraries can save up to 60 percent* energy costs in comparison to standard models.
Groenlo, Netherlands, July 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Nedap Librix presents the most environmentally-friendly RFID reader for library security systems. With the Librix Eco Reader, libraries can save up to 60 percent* energy costs in comparison to standard models. The design makes it even more environmentally friendly. Even the housing can be completely recycled and all components are RoHS compliant.
“The new Eco Reader is an important building block for Nedap Librix in its efforts to heighten the environmental awareness of libraries. Nedap Librix is of the opinion today that every milliwatt of energy that can be saved, counts,” Wouter Klunder, Managing Director of Nedap Librix points out.
The Librix Eco Reader has been especially designed for the security detectors in libraries. The Eco Reader is equipped with a relay which allows it to be connected up to security systems, turnstiles, sliding doors and monitoring cameras.
Environmentally aware down to the last detail:
Every Eco Reader is equipped with an energy management module. This allows you to set time periods during which the instrument is supplied with power and those where it is temporarily switched off. In connection with the browser-based management tool Librix Online, it is even possible to set a different time period for every day of the week.
The housing of the Eco Readers is made of aluminium which can be completely reused without any loss of quality. In addition to that, the Eco Reader complies with the requirements of the RoHS (EC Directive on limiting the use of certain hazardous materials) and does not contain any lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and no polybrominated diphenylether (PBDE).
“High environmental and cost awareness do not have to be opposite extremes. This is impressively proven by the Eco Reader,” Wouter Klunder explains.
High performance:
The Eco Reader comes with an integrated two channel multiplexer. This means it is possible to increase the channel width of the safety detectors or the detection sensitivity within the usual RFID range. This feature is particularly practical for audio and video items which require more power for reliable identification.
Also included in the scope of supply is a customer counter module which can be used to ascertain how many users have entered and have left the library. With the aid of Librix Online, the data this produces can then be compared to the number of items on loan. This does not require any external hardware; the connection between the reader and software is made within a few minutes.
The device configuration is updated, maintained and changed easily and conveniently using a website-based remote control.
“Our mission is to develop and produce innovative products for libraries with the highest quality requirements. Nedap Librix is so confident in the quality of this products that they offer a 3 year warranty on all Eco Reader components,” Wouter Klunder adds.
