Succession Planning in Critical Infrastructure
Washington, DC, July 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA) held the latest in its series of critical sector forums by examining the importance of succession planning in critical infrastructure protection with Michael Kane (Chief Human Capital Officer at the Department of Energy) and Jeff Neal (Chief Human Capital Officer at the Department of Homeland Security). INMA Chairman Dr. Kathleen Kiernan and Jenifer Fritz, welcomed the distinguished panel and a full room of leaders from the public and private sectors.
“One of the most important elements in our critical infrastructure protection is the one often least spoken about and that is the strength of the human capital which safeguards it,” said INMA Chairman Dr. Kathleen Kiernan. Michael Kane is the Chief Human Capital Officer for the Department of Energy. He is responsible for strategically aligning the agency's workforce to its missions through effective management of human capital policies and programs. The CHCO advises and assists the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Energy, and other agency officials, in selecting, developing, training, and managing a highly skilled, productive, and diverse workforce in accordance with merit system principles and all applicable statutory requirements.
Jeff Neal is the Chief Human Capital Officer for the Department of Homeland Security. As Chief Human Capital Officer, Mr. Neal focuses on retaining and developing the Department’s current highly-skilled workforce and ensuring that DHS is able to recruit the additional talent necessary to achieve its mission. He also works to enhance diversity at DHS to reflect the composition of the nation and build department-wide capabilities and systems to provide the best training, education and professional development opportunities.
