Tales of Human Cornucopia, Healthy Play: Playlady Published by Outskirts Press

Outskirts Press announces the latest highly anticipated sports, recreation and air sports book from Carmel, CA, author Vesta Edmonds.

Carmel, CA, July 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, Inc. has published Playlady: Tales of a Recreational Therapist by Vesta Edmonds. The author's most recent book to date is a 6 x 9 paperback in the sport, recreation and air sports category and is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The webpage at www.outskirtspress.com/playlady was launched simultaneously with the book's publication.

Playlady is a true narrative where readers will meet hospitalized children, psychotic mental patients, young delinquents, and dying elderly. They’ll experience sadness and joy, frustration, and the wonder when a paralyzed man walks again or a baby dies all alone.

There is a young teen with anorexia, a murderer who shuffles across campus for first choice of out-of-date jelly donuts, a lady who believes the announcer sees her through the TV, a millionaire who wants to lose one hundred pounds, and the last person to have a lobotomy.

Their lives are all enhanced through play.

The tales are humorous and avoid medical terms.

267 pages in length, Playlady: Tales of a Recreational Therapist is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the sports, recreation and air sports category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, Playlady meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $15.95.

Additionally, Playlady can be ordered by retailers or wholesalers for the maximum trade discount price set by the author in quantities of ten or more from the Outskirts Press Direct bookstore at www.outskirtspress.com/bookstore.

About the author:

When asked why she wanted to be a recreational therapist, she replied, “So I can wear tennis shoes to work!”

It was easier than explaining how it combined her love of recreation, her fascination with psychology, and her desire to help people of all ages and illnesses reach their full potential. After earning her BS, she worked in Pediatrics, Psych, Cardiac Rehabilitation and private practice for a total of twenty-eight years. She was one of the first RT’s to be certified nationally.

Writing began for Vesta in high school as an editor for the paper and yearbooks. Later she was a popular columnist, public speaker and teacher of swimming, exercise and mental health classes. This is the first time she stopped long enough to write it all down.
