ETT's E-Select Systems Expands Its Dual-Drive Product Line by Introducing the New E-Select CA Gen Series and the E-Select Pump Series

Dallas, TX, July 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Energy Transfer Technology (ETT), a leader in natural gas compression technology, today announced two new products in its E-Select Systems dual drive product line: The E-Select CA Gen Series and the E-Select Pump Series. The introduction of these products mark the expansion of the company’s patented dual-drive technology first used for natural gas compression into electric generation and industrial water pumping.

“Both the E-Select CA Gen Series and the E-Select Pump Series take the value of our dual drive technology and push it to the next level of electric generation and pumping solutions,” said David Coker, senior vice president, ETT.

All of ETT’s E-Select dual drive products offer the unique combination of a natural gas engine and an electric motor, each capable of individually generating power, which provides operating efficiencies and eliminates down time due to weather conditions or power outages.

From Natural Gas Compression to Electric Generation
The E-Select CA Gen Series is a dual purpose machine with the ability to operate as an electric generator and a natural gas compressor. The E-Select CA Gen Series is similar in design to the E-select CA series, a dual drive compressor ETT unveiled earlier this year that utilizes a Caterpillar engine, an electric motor and an Ariel compressor, however there is one distinct difference. The clutch of the electric motor on the E-Select CA Gen Series is designed to detach from the compressor, which sends the motor into a free spin and converts the natural gas compressor into an electric generator, providing the company with an independent source of electrical power, or an additional revenue source by selling the electricity to a local provider.

“The E-Select CA Gen Series allows companies to have the natural gas compression they need, or when they don’t need it they can power their facilities, offset high power loads or sell the excess electricity for a profit,” said Coker. “This new compressor will provide great value to natural gas sites such as storage facilities that have downtimes when gas is not being injected or withdrawn.”

Priming the Pump
ETT’s E-Select Pump Series with horse power options that range from 50 to 1500, leverages the benefits of the dual drive concept to provide cities, municipalities and others, an industrial water pump that can continue to operate during critical weather situations that may cause single power source pumps to fail.

“During a hurricane or flash flood, water pumping systems are vital to reducing damage to the community, but if these pumps are dependent on the electrical grid, many times they shut down when they are needed most,” said Coker. “But the new E-Select Pump Series has the ability to switch from the electric motor to the natural gas engine so that operations can continue uninterrupted."

“The benefits of using dual drive technology keep stacking up,” added Coker. “Building natural gas compressors that can generate electricity and designing industrial pumps that are not affected by power outages are unique ideas that could have a significant impact on those around them. We will continue to see the expansion of our dual drive technology in the future.”
