Savage BMW Hosts "Drive for Team USA" Test Drive Event
Savage BMW and Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Furniss invite local residents to take part in the BMW "Drive for Team USA" Test Drive Event.
Ontario, CA, July 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- BMW Group is the proud Official Mobility Partner of the United States Olympic committee (USOC). In the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic Games, BMW will apply its resources and technologies to advance the training and performance goals of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes of Team USA.
Savage BMW will be joined by Team USA athlete Bruce Furniss, member of the 1976 Olympic Swimming Team and graduate of the University, of Southern California who can discuss preparations toward qualifying for the Olympic Games and the need for support for Team USA.
Savage BMW and Bruce Furniss invite local residents to show their support for Team USA in BMW’s Drive for Team USA event on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 6:45 PM. For every participant who test drives a vehicle at the event, BMW of North America will donate $10.00 to Team USA, up to a maximum donation of $200,000. Attendees will have the opportunity to test drive the all-new BMW 650i Convertible, the full lineup of BMW models and get behind the wheel of the competition. At the event, participants are also invited to cast their vote for one of three athletes to be supported by BMW on their journey to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Bruce Furniss is a graduate of the University of Southern California and was a member of the 1976 Olympic Swimming Team in Montreal. During those games, Bruce set two world records en route to winning two gold medals, one in the 200 Meter Freestyle and the other in the 4X200 Meter Freestyle Relay. His 1976 Olympic Gold Medal performance would last eight Olympic Quadrennials before being equaled by another American, Michael Phelps, in 2008. During an illustrious swimming career spanning seventeen years, Furniss broke ten world and nineteen American records and was twice named World Swimmer of the Year, once in 1975 and again in 1976.
