Poker Comedy Hitting The Nuts Wins at 2011 Las Vegas Film Festival

Las Vegas, NV, July 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The poker-themed comedy Hitting The Nuts won a Golden Ace Award for Superior Filmmaking at the 2011 Las Vegas Film Festival. This is the third award in as many festivals for the movie. (Hitting The Nuts won Best Feature Film at both the Cincinnati Film Festival and the Derby City Film Festival earlier this year.)

The movie screened at the Las Vegas Hilton on July 16th to a packed house. Joe Boyd is the producer and director of the movie. Boyd says, “It really was an amazing reception. The crowd never stopped laughing from beginning to end. We are humbled by the movie’s success. We are grateful to the Las Vegas Film Festival and the international poker community for the support.”

The movie is a “mockumentary” about an annual illegal poker tournament that takes place in the basement of a funeral home in rural Indiana. It has received a series of notable endorsements from the poker community. Lance Bradley, the editor of BLUFF magazine, did a feature story on the film in the July issue of his magazine. Bradley says, “this movie is quite different from anything else that’s been made using poker as a theme…it’s not just another poker movie.”

Jeff Madsen, the 2006 World Series of Poker Player of the Year says, “Hitting The Nuts is without question the funniest poker movie ever made. This kind of movie has never been done…it celebrates the universal love for poker while making fun of it…a winning combination.”

Currently the DVD is only available at www.HittingTheNuts.com, but according to Boyd, “we are getting very close to a wider distribution deal that will get the DVD to major retail centers, as well as a digital version to outlets like iTunes and Netflix.”
