ROUND2 Inc. Hosts Obama Administration Officials Announcement on Electronics Stewardship
Austin, TX, July 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- ROUND2 INC. welcomed Obama administration officials today as they unveiled their federal strategy to promote the U.S. based electronics recycling industry and creation of green jobs. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, General Services Administrator Martha N. Johnson, and White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley were joined by Michael Dell, CEO of Dell Inc., Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint, and Mark Small, V.P. of Corporate Environment, Safety and Health of Sony Electronics Inc. to release the Obama Administration’s “National Strategy on Electronics Stewardship” at ROUND2’s corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas.
The “National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship” is a strategy for responsible electronic design, purchasing, management and recycling that promotes the burgeoning electronics recycling market and green jobs in the U.S. Along with the first voluntary commitments from industry leaders, Dell, Sprint, and Sony, the Administration’s strategy also outlines specific actions that the federal government will take in order to encourage the more environmentally friendly design of electronic products, promote responsible recycling of used and discarded electronics and advance a domestic market for electronics recycling that will protect public health and create jobs.
“We are excited and humbled by our inclusion in this monumental press event,” said Randy Weiss, ROUND2’s President and CEO. “The voluntary commitment of Dell, Sprint, and Sony today will not only continue to drive our business but help the evolution of the electronics recycling industry in America.”
