Milwaukee, WI, July 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) is pleased to announce that Gilda Spencer, Vice President and Chief Litigation Counsel at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, is the recipient of its 2011 award for Outstanding Service by an Advisory Council Member. This annual award recognizes an Advisory Council member for success in increasing minority and women-owned (M/WBE) law firm participation in the organization and also for demonstrating dedication to NAMWOLF’s mission to encourage major corporations and public entities to utilize M/WBE law firms. This top honor will be awarded at the upcoming Gala Awards Dinner during NAMWOLF’s 2011 Annual Meeting & Law Firm Expo in Las Vegas at the Bellagio, September 19.
Spencer, who has been an active and passionate supporter of NAMWOLF since 2009, is responsible for directing Nationwide’s litigation strategy and overseeing its execution, as well as managing outside counsel budgets. NAMWOLF selected Spencer for this award because of her significant contributions to the organization including maintaining a personal commitment to finding opportunities for M/WBE law firms with her company. “NAMWOLF, like all non-profit organizations, depends heavily on the dedication and efforts of its volunteers. Gilda has been a tremendous ally for us and in a relatively short period has proven to be an invaluable advocate for our mission and our vision,” said Jason Brown, NAMWOLF’s Executive Director and General Counsel. “Her leadership and passion serve as an example to her peers and legal professionals everywhere. We consider it a great privilege to call her a ‘friend of NAMWOLF’ and we are thrilled to bestow this well-deserved honor to Nationwide’s Gilda Spencer.”
