Centers for Specialty Care to Open Its Doors to the Elderly
Centers for Specialty Care Group will open the doors to a number of its facilities to provide a cool safe reprieve for seniors in Brooklyn and Queens.
New York, NY, July 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Centers for Specialty Care Group LLC, the group which represents many Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facilities throughout the state will open its doors to offer cooling centers throughout this heat wave and will continue to keep them open as long as necessary.
As neighborhoods in New York City currently experience and are expected to continue to experience record heat with indexes over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the operators of Centers for Specialty Care Group have decided to open their doors and offer this free service to the elderly or infirm members of our community. Jeremy Strauss, Executive Director says, “It's times like this when the community relies on us and it's our job to respond to their needs.”
The cooling centers will be located in the:
Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare
4915 10th Ave Brooklyn N.Y. 11219
Holliswood Care Center
195-44 Woodhull Jamaica N.Y. 11423
The cooling centers are open from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm and will offer a cool environment with comfortable seating areas, as well as cold drinks, a change of clothing if necessary and informational handouts for seniors reminding them of proper heat precautions.
With temperatures already exceeding the 100 degree mark the New York State Department of Health recommends staying indoors from 11:00am until 4:00pm, and reminds seniors to refrain from physically demanding activities.
Centers for Specialty Care Group urges all those who will be coming to one of the cooling centers to wear light weight, light colored, loose fitting clothes that covers as much skin as possible and to take frequent showers when available.
