His incredible story begins when as a 35-year-old high school physics teacher and coach, he made a bet with his baseball team that if the team won a district championship he would try out for the big leagues. When the team won, he followed through with his promise. Just three months later, Morris achieved his dream of pitching in the big leagues by striking out the first hitter he faced. Morris’ story was highlighted in the Disney movie “The Rookie” starring Dennis Quaid.
