Plainsboro Indian Restaurant Honors Squad Heroes
Plainsboro, NJ, March 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Local restaurant "Crown of India" located on Plainsboro Road made a grand gesture recently - free meals for all the members of the Plainsboro Rescue Squad. Business co-owner, Brian Chrai, explained, "The Squad members put a lot of effort into helping the Plainsboro community and do an incredibility time-consuming and stressful job. And they do it for free. We figured that the least we could do is to provide them with some good food."
When Brian heard how the ambulance service is provided free of charge by the volunteer group of residents, felt he had to act. Chris Bell, the Squad's Vice President responded to the news; "We are very pleased by this offer. Squad members love good food and it's particularly appreciated to be recognized in this way." Bell goes on to say, "Each year, we run a fund raising drive that is focused on Plainsboro residents, but we haven't specifically asked the local businesses and corporations for financial help. It is gratifying to learn of a business, like this restaurant, that without prompting, has offered something to make our crew members feel appreciated. Some of our volunteer EMTs regularly spend 600 to 1000 hours a year on ambulance calls and squad support activities - a good meal and the recognition that this business owner is giving us makes all the difference."
The Plainsboro Rescue Squad responded to 758 emergency medical 911 calls in 2010. Its 70 plus members are unpaid, yet most are fully-trained and State certified EMTs. They also run the fleet of three ambulances that not only the Rescue Squad uses, but are also used by the township medical services team. The recently expanded and redecorated Crown of India is at 660 Plainsboro Rd.
