UCAAN Prepares for 3rd Annual Charity Date Auction (Updated Info)

Thousand Oaks, CA, July 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In December 2006 it took cancer to make Rachel Shur re-evaluate her purpose in life. She was only 26, and was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of Leukemia that doctors gave Shur a 10% chance of survival. But somehow, Shur beat it and from the experience came a whirlwind of desires to help others. She volunteered for local organizations in the Ventura County area; she shared her story and didn’t allow anything to keep her down. Even after a relapse in 2007, less than a year later after her initial diagnosis and a stem cell transplant, she has surpassed the doctor’s expectations & has been clear of cancer for 3 years.

Eventually Shur decided to embark on her own new journey through life by founding an organization called UCAAN – United Cancer Advocacy Action Network, an organization whose soul purpose is to provide resources, hope, inspiration and eventually financial aid to cancer survivors & their families. With a strong passion Shur perseveres despite all of her side effects of her treatments on UCAAN’s goals.

The organization’s first fundraiser, which helped UCAAN raise enough money to get started is having a come back. UCAAN presents their 3rd Annual Charity Date Auction with Celebrities on Sunday September 25th, 2011 at Fiamme Restaurant & Bar in Westlake Village from 7pm-11pm. The event will auction off eligible bachelors & bachelorettes as well as some celebrities. “We’re excited to have Robert Hayes this year. I loved him in Airplane!” says Shur about one of the celebrities participating. The event also includes a silent auction which has a unique package for 4 tickets to the New Year’s Eve event at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills to see Five for Fighting & have a Meet & Greet with the band prior to the show. UCAAN welcomes everyone to this event because there’s something for everyone. The funds raised from this event go towards growing UCAAN so that they will be able to provide some financial grants in 2012. These Survivors Need Help now.
