Medical Technology Company Experiences Rapid Growth in Struggling Economy
Practice Velocity®, LLC, (www.practicevelocity.com), a medical software and billing technology company specializing in urgent care, is pleased to announce it has hired its 200th employee less than a decade after it was founded.
Belvidere, IL, July 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Practice Velocity®, LLC, (www.practicevelocity.com), a medical software and billing technology company specializing in urgent care, is pleased to announce it has hired its 200th employee this month. Founded in 2002, Practice Velocity has experienced tremendous growth over the last nine years.
The company was started by urgent care physicians David Stern, MD, CPC, John Koehler, MD, FACEP, and Terry Buzzard, MD, FACEP, who together sought a more effective way for urgent care centers to handle the operational elements of running a practice, including patient flow, billing, coding, and more. When extensive research revealed a need for electronic medical record and practice management tools designed specifically for urgent care, the three urgent care physicians worked together to design and launch their first service: PiVoT (Practice Velocity template), a modified electronic medical record. Practice Velocity’s first client went online with PiVoT in February of 2003 and is still with the company today.
Less than a decade later, Practice Velocity now serves more than 750 urgent care centers in 48 states. It has expanded its services significantly to offer a complete electronic medical record (EMR), practice management software, billing services, contracting and credentialing services, and consulting services. In March of this year, Practice Velocity hosted a job fair in order to fill more than 30 positions open within the company that were needed to support the company’s growth. The company has expanded to two locations, one in Belvidere and one in Machesney Park, Ill., to house its more than 200 employees.
“I am exceptionally pleased with the growth Practice Velocity has experienced in such a short timeframe. We’re fortunate to have been able to continue creating jobs right throughout the severe recession,” said David Stern, Practice Velocity CEO. “I think much of that success can be attributed to finding the urgent care industry’s primary needs and providing solutions that exceed expectations.”
With a full line of services now available to urgent care physicians, Practice Velocity has turned its focus for the coming years on being the premier resource for urgent care practices seeking to obtain government stimulus dollars through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs that are a component of the HITECH Act (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health), which was passed in 2009 as a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
