In 1999, he transferred from the University of California Davis, East Bay General Surgery Program to perform Basic Science Research Fellowship in Burn Surgery at the University of California, San Diego. From there he next completed a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at the University of Mississippi, where he also completed his formal plastic and reconstructive surgical training.
