Taipei, Taiwan, July 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Taiwan’s Chunghwa Yellow Pages, Shanghai Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages, PCCW, and Directel Macau today jointly announced in Taipei the signing of a ground-breaking cross-strait Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a strategic alliance to promote Yellow Pages business in the Greater China region.

Cooperation among the telecom services providers under the MoU will establish the world’s leading cross-border telecom and media platform for businesses.

Mr. Chang Shaio-tung, President of Chunghwa Telecom, said, “The alliance will link together the most comprehensive databases, as well as their unique distribution channels, of the four places, thereby forming an effective cross-strait business and media platform through which companies may distribute their messages and create business opportunities.”

The four companies reached a consensus in February to promote their Yellow Pages through strategic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of their initiative, they will jointly launch Yellow Pages service via different media platforms, and host Chinese forums to facilitate industry exchanges.

Mr. Zhan Mao-yin, President of China Telecom Group Yellow Pages Information, a shareholder of Shanghai Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages, said, “The Yellow Pages information and media distribution will vigorously expand its content and coverage and become a powerful multi-platform, omnipresent brand.”

According to the MoU, the telecom services providers will launch the yptrade.com portal in the fourth quarter this year and a Business & Tourism Yellow Pages in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English before the end of this year.

yptrade.com will combine business databases from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Macau, allowing users to search information about businesses in these places.
