Successful Government Contracting for Women Business Owners is Topic of Workshop August 11 in Chicago

Chicago, IL, July 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) seeking to do business within the public sector should attend, “Government Contracting: What WBEs Need to Know to be Successful,” a regional workshop presented by the Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC).

The event will be held on Thursday, August 11, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at PepsiCo, Inc., 555 W. Monroe St., in Chicago. Host sponsor is PepsiCo, Inc.

Facilitator Gloria Larkin, president of TargetGov and noted government contracting expert and author, will discuss the benefits of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Contracting Program. She will describe how the WOSB program, established in October 2010, allows contracting officers to set-aside contracts where only WBEs can compete.

WBEs will learn how to leverage the new program to improve, elevate and enhance their company’s benefits to contracting officers and corporate buyers; locate viable direct government contractors or as a sub to prime corporate contractors; and maximize their competitive position by effectively connecting to decision makers and successfully building relationships.

Federal Government agencies and their prime corporate contractors are federally mandated to meet a 5% (of $540 billion) spending goal with women-owned small businesses. Attend this workshop and gain a better understanding of how to navigate this new program.
