Triangle Orthopaedic Associates Establishes the Richard Bruch, MD Prize for Excellence in Orthotic and Prosthetic Resident Research

Durham, NC, August 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Triangle Orthopaedic Associates, P.A. demonstrates the important role of Orthotists and Prosthetists in today’s healthcare setting by housing a thriving O & P department at its headquarters in Durham, NC. To further advocate the field, “The Triangle Orthopaedic Associates Richard Bruch, MD Prize for Excellence in Orthotic and Prosthetic Resident Research” will be awarded this year at the annual Scientific and Educational Meeting of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.

The Scientific and Educational Meeting will be held for Resident Orthotists and Prosthetists of the combined North and South Carolina at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, NC on October 20-22, 2011. Several candidates for the award will be selected based on the Meeting Content Committee’s evaluation of submitted abstracts. Subsequently, the top three residents will present their research, and the best presentation will be chosen. To support the discipline of Orthotics and Prosthetics, and to honor the distinguished orthopaedist, Richard Bruch, MD, Triangle Orthopaedics will recognize the Resident winner and award him or her with a cash prize of $500. Harry Phillips, CPO, who serves as Triangle Orthopaedics’ O & P Department Director as well as President of the AAOP NC Chapter, is principally responsible for initiating the establishment of this award in honor of his colleague, Dr. Richard Bruch.
