Online Shopping is More and More Popular as Back to School Shopping: UK Consumer Electronics Store Mixwall
More and more parents shop on online stores for their children’s back-to-school necessities according to UK electronics seller Mixwall.
Manchester, United Kingdom, August 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- A recent National Retail Federation Survey has showed that online shopping is capturing a larger and larger portion of back-to-school shopping according to UK electronics site Mixwall.
The 2011 National Retail Federations survey on 2011 back-to-school shopping suggested that approximately one-third of respondents planned to go shopping online, up from 28.6 percent last year.
The survey also showed that from 23.2% of people in 2010 to 30.7% this year would compare online shopping with shopping in brick and mortar stores.
Rachael Hayes, Public Relations manager for Mixwall said that online shopping had a price advantage over shopping in brick and mortar shops.
“Slumping home values and high unemployment have put a damper on consumer sentiment in recent years, so it’s not surprising that parents heading out to buy school items are looking to cut expense where they can,” said Mrs. Hayes. “With the extra burden of tuition, college students and their parents are slightly more likely to change their consumption plans this year due to the economy and will compensate by doing more comparative shopping online. Online stores don’t need to endure high rents that brick and mortar shops do.”
According to Mrs. Hayes, without leaving their house and more options were also advantages over traditional shopping.
“Though there are cars, people have to pay for gasoline, which is also part of the expenditure. Besides, more and more people are willing to stay at home. Without leaving house is a better choice for them,” said Mrs. Hayes. “There are more options for parents and children to shop online. Traditional shopping is subjected to the size of the store, bigger shops, and more varieties.”
Mrs. Hayes added in the end, “100 tablets PC has been sold out so far. Parents preferred tablets to laptops and cell phones. In order to provide more options for parents and children, Mixwall launched a wide range of back-to-school items last week.”
