Stanbridge College Red Cross Blood Drive Assists Over 50 Lives, Helps Relieve Summer Shortage
Stanbridge College announces that its quarterly blood drive collected over 18 units of blood from its Nursing, IT and Occupational Therapy students, faculty and staff.
Irvine, CA, August 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Stanbridge College recently partnered with the American Red Cross for its quarterly blood drive on July 19, 2011. Over 30 Nursing, IT and Occupational Therapy students, staff and faculty donated 18 units of blood. According to the Red Cross, this amount of blood will assist in saving the lives of over 50 people in need of blood transfusions.
According to Suzanne Jennings, Donor Recruitment Associate for the American Red Cross, “Summer is critical time for the American Red Cross. Our main donors, some of who are High School and College students, are not always available due to vacation schedules and other seasonal distractions. We are thankful for all of the donors and volunteers at Stanbridge College who gave their blood and time at Tuesday’s blood drive.”
Stanbridge College’s quarterly blood drives are a part of REACH Beyond the Classroom. REACH is a Service Learning and Civic Engagement initiative that strives to build life-long engaged learners through community service. The REACH initiative provides students with opportunities to give back to their local Orange County and global community while earning credit towards coursework in a structured environment. Stanbridge College encourages its students and the public to continue to reach beyond their classroom and daily lives to help relieve the summer blood shortage. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit http://www.redcrossblood.org to schedule your next donation appointment.
