Tango Lovers Honors the Bicentennial Celebration of Uruguay in New York
New York, NY, August 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- What: Celebrating the Bicentennial of Uruguay, “Enamorados del Tango (Tango Lovers)” will be performing in New York for the first time.
The objective of “Enamorados del Tango (Tango Lovers)” is to create global awareness of the art and culture of Rio de la Plata, while integrating other Latin American cultures.
Who: "Enamorados del Tango" - Tango Lovers, is a group of renowned and Grammy award musicians, talented singers, composers and extraordinary young dancers with rich international careers sharing all the passion, strength and sensuality of the Tango from Rio de la Plata with the world.
The group was founded in 2003 on Valentine’s Day in Miami by Alfredo Lerida, a talented Uruguayan resident of Miami, General Director and first vocalist of the group.
Among the celebrities in the group are:
Federico Britos, the musical director of the group, a four time Grammy winner was born in Uruguay and has built a solid reputation throughout his vast career, performing with great musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Charlie Byrd, Charlie Haden, Cachao, Jose Feliciano, Nestor Torres, Juan Luis Guerra, Gloria Estefan and many others.
Gustavo Casenave, current Director of the Jazz Department at the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts in New York City, is considered by the Uruguayan press as “one of the best pianist our country has” (El Pais – Uruguay). Gustavo has been Bette Midler's Musical Director for 2 years and has performed with many Grammy and Oscar awards winners and several internationally acclaimed artists such as Mark Egan, Neil Sedaca and others
