Local Moms from PA, NJ and DE Share Through New Glossy Magazine and Digital Platforms

Philadelphia, PA, August 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Local moms in the tri-state Philadelphia area can now share their opinions, insights and experiences with other moms in the region through MetroKids Magazine.

MetroKids, the area’s most comprehensive parenting source, now combines the best in local events, services, school and health resources with parent feedback. In a newly redesigned magazine, starting with the August 2011 issue, MetroKids includes more content directly produced by moms, first-person insights on parenting, a local mom blogger and a humorous “advice column.”

More about the New MetroKids
MetroKids is promoting greater interactivity with readers by connecting the features of the print magazine with the MetroKids Facebook page and its website.

Each month, content drawn from participants on the MetroKids Facebook fan page will be featured in print, including a “MetroKids Mom,” a favorite photo and results from online polls.

Moms, dads and grandparents can share their feedback, experiences, ideas, opinions and photos on MetroKids.com, which also carries extras like expanded school listings, family-friendly events and links to additional information and features.

“We are looking for new ways to connect with young parents in print, online and on Facebook,” said MetroKids founder Nancy Lisagor. “With our new look and features we want to expose even more families to the materials that have been helping parents for the last 21 years.”

MetroKids’ August issue, with its first-ever glossy cover, bears the appropriate headline, “A Fresh Start.” The issue showcases the rebranded logo and new slogan: “smart. local. parenting.” The publication is now standard magazine size, with interactive features added to its award-winning content.

MetroKids started 21 years ago to connect other Philadelphia moms with parenting resources and local opportunities. Since then, MetroKids has expanded to three localized monthly editions in Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware where it is available to more than 100,000 families throughout the eleven-county Philadelphia region. The magazine is distributed free at grocery stores, day care centers, schools, doctor’s offices, libraries and more than a thousand other family-friendly businesses and organizations. New street boxes throughout the city of Philadelphia and along regional transit systems make MetroKids even more accessible.

MetroKids continues to provide timely articles on education, health, enrichment, and culture, in addition to parenting advice, tips and support. Hundreds of listings each month include local and seasonal events and ideas for family fun, camps, classes, schools, child care centers, parties, and resources for children’s health, mother’s health and special needs. Children’s book, music and product reviews and reader giveaways continue to be popular departments. MetroKids serves parents with kids of all ages: babies, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary, middle and high school students.
