Certified Scuba Divers Invited to Participate in Project AWARE Coastal Cleanup Hosted by Presidente InterContinental Resort & Spa and Scuba Du
Guided by certified dive masters, participants will visit Cozumel’s National Marine Park for an afternoon of cleaning marine debris from the world’s second largest coral reef.
Cozumel, Mexico, August 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Cleaning up marine debris from the world’s second largest coral reef may not sound like much of a vacation getaway, but for experienced divers, it’s a necessary process to maintain these fragile reef eco-systems.
Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa and Scuba Du, the resort’s in-house dive shop, are giving divers interested in helping remove marine debris a complete experience with three-nights accommodation, a two-tank dive, all meals and a closing night reception.
The International Coastal Cleanup Day package is available September 23 – 25, 2011.
Guided by certified dive masters from Scuba Du, participants will visit Cozumel’s National Marine Park for an afternoon of cleaning marine debris from the world’s second largest coral reef. Enjoy valet gear service at the dive shop and fresh seasonal fruit, water and chilled towels while aboard the dive boat.
The resort’s International Coastal Cleanup package includes deluxe accommodations for three nights, two tank dives, a cocktail reception after the Coastal Cleanup and daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rates start at US$618 per diver based on triple occupancy; US$647 per diver for double occupancy and US$914 for single room occupancy.
Participants also will receive a welcome cocktail, souvenir t-shirt and discounts for night dives for views of eels, octopus, giant crabs and, if you’re lucky, the elusive “splendid toad fish” found only in the waters of Cozumel.
Project AWARE partners with the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Day to engage citizens in removing marine debris and identifying its sources.
According to The Ocean Conservancy, in the past 25 years International Coastal Cleanup has become the world’s largest volunteer effort for ocean health. Nearly nine million volunteers from 152 countries and locations have cleaned 145 million pounds of trash from the shores of lakes, streams, rivers, and the ocean on just one day each year.
