CESI Debt Solutions Partners with United Athletes Foundation to Help Families Struggling with Debt
UAF reaches communities across the country through foundations sponsored by more than 90 professional athletes.
Raleigh, NC, August 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Professional athletes have a tremendous impact in their communities. Adults follow them. Children look up to them. In addition, the foundations sponsored by professional athletes help tens of thousands of people through a variety of programs. So in an effort to provide credit counseling services to more families struggling with debt, the national nonprofit CESI Debt Solutions is partnering with United Athletes Foundation (UAF) to make financial literacy materials available through UAF sponsored community events and camps in addition to the foundations sponsored by individual athletes.
“Surveys show 95% of past and current clients have improved their spending habits and paid off their debt so we know our program works,” says Neil Ellington, executive vice president of CESI Debt Solutions. “We are excited our partnership with UAF will introduce our services to new communities and we look forward to helping counsel clients about how to pay off their debts as well as develop better money management practices.”

CESI certified counselors will evaluate each client’s income, living expenses and outstanding debt. Counselors then tailor a solution to every client’s needs, including a customized budget along with ongoing counseling and education programs. CESI counselors also work with creditors to negotiate better rates as part of the plan to help the client get out of debt. Lower interest rates can help clients pay back their debt faster.
The United Athletes Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization created in 2008 by a group of professional athletes whose mission is to empower athletes to understand their unique role to impact communities through education and social development. To date there are more than 90 professional athletes associated with the UA Foundation including members of the NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA and professional boxing.
CESI counselors are certified within 6 months of employment by agencies such as the Association for Financial Counseling Planning and Education (AFCPE), the National Institute for Financial Education (NIFE), and the Center for Financial Certifications. CESI provides one-on- one credit counseling six days a week.
