Join the 8th Annual Walk-Along for Lupus
The Lupus Alliance of America LIQ Affiliate, the only resource on Long Island for those living with lupus will be holding their 18th Annual Walk-Along for Lupus on Sunday, October 16th, 2011.
Bellmore, NY, August 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, October 16th in Eisenhower Park, Field #6, over 2,000 people will bring friends, family and co-workers and Walk-Along for Lupus. Join Greg-T from Z-100, enjoy live music, have your face painted, get your picture taken with the USA Skateasauras and take home some great give-a-ways all while raising funds to support those in the Long Island/Queens area that have lupus, as well as novel research into the cause and hopefully one day the cure.
To register to be a walker at this event visit www.firstgiving.com/lupusliqueens where you can register and collect donations online. Why not utilize those friends you’ve made on Facebook, Twitter and Linked In, as well as those out-of-town family members by collecting donations online while helping those that suffer from lupus; a chronic life-threatening disease that has no known cure. You can download widgets for your social networking pages and email signatures and this year you can also post a YouTube video on your fundraising page describing why you Walk-Along for Lupus.
Pre-registered teams that raise more than $300 before 10/05/11 will receive signs with their team name on them that they can proudly display as they walk and teams that have more than 8 people can order pre-packaged lunches for every member of their team. As always those who raise $50 or more will receive a Walk T-shirt and those who raise $500 or more will receive a gift certificate from Macy’s or BestBuy. New this year, teams can have their picture taken at the special team photo spot a great way to memorialize the day!
Not Internet savvy? Don’t worry; you can still collect donations with a Walk-Along envelope. Just call 1-800-850-9000 and ask for a walk packet to be sent to your home. You can also pre-register in person at the Bellmore office the week of October 13th. Extended office hours that week include Thursday until 8pm, Friday until 9pm and Saturday until 2pm.
