The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council Joins Audubon Lifestyles as a Platinum Member

Audubon Lifestyles Platinum Membership was created to help foster sustainability by working with, and providing educational resources to businesses seeking assistance to balance the triple bottom line of people, profit, and planet where they live, work, and play.

Palm Harbor, FL, August 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council (NWSHC) recently joined Audubon Lifestyles and the International Sustainability Council as a Platinum Member.

The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council serves as a resource for people of all income levels who would like to improve their horse property towards becoming more sustainable. Their goal is to help educate and provide materials and solutions to common horse keeping problems that lead to sustainable economic, environmental and social successes. In addition, they explore efficient and sustainable ways to reduce costs for the average equine owner. Equine facility designers can tap into the Northwest Sustainable Horse Council’s resources for information, and network together to provide feedback and real world examples of techniques or products that may serve to inspire future sustainable design improvements within the equine industry.

Audubon Lifestyles Platinum Membership was created to help foster sustainability by working with, and providing educational resources to individuals, businesses, organizations, universities, government entities, municipalities, communities, neighborhoods, and virtually anyone seeking assistance to balance the triple bottom line of people, profit, and planet where they live, work, and play.

In addition, their support and membership allows Audubon Lifestyles and the ISC to expand their efforts to promote sustainability on golf facilities worldwide.

Leading equine facilities, nonprofits, and organizations like The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council are finding innovative ways to improve their environmental and social performance. And their actions not only contribute to a cleaner, healthier and safer planet, but they also result in significant business and financial benefits. Sustainability is not an asset that can be bought or sold; however it is becoming an integral part of the way that equine facilities are being managed and operated. Just as a equine facility’s management practices influence business value, so do their sustainability initiatives.

“We are excited to join Audubon Lifestyles and the International Sustainability Council as a Platinum Member,” said Diane Engdahl, Director of The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council. “NWSHC is grateful to be a member of such an active and committed organization and we will promote the Principles of Sustainability and encourage every equestrian facility in the Northwest (and beyond) to participate in the Audubon Lifestyles Sustainable Equestrian Facility Program, and to join as a Platinum Member as well.”

Audubon Lifestyles Platinum Membership provides The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council with a vast pool of resources assisting them with all of their sustainability efforts, and also allows for participation in the Audubon Lifestyles Sustainable Equestrian Facility Program where they can work towards certification at their Sustainable Horse Demonstration Farm, which is a an active example of a wetland restoration grant project integrated with a equine facility located approximately 15 minutes from the University of Oregon.

In addition, The Northwest Sustainable Horse Council has earned the right to use the Audubon Lifestyles/ISC Platinum Member Logo on their educational materials, and will be listed on the Audubon Network for Sustainability as a Platinum Member.
