Advisory Board Named for Bling My Bra 2011: 3rd Annual Breast Cancer eBay Charity Auction Gearing Up
Bling My Bra has announced the members named to the new Advisory Board for Bling My Bra 2011, the third annual breast cancer charity auction featuring handcrafted art bras on eBay throughout October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure through eBay Giving Works.
Dallas, TX, August 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Bling My Bra has announced the names of those accepting seats on the newly created Advisory Board for Bling My Bra 2011 in preparation for this year’s fundraising campaign. 2011 marks Bling My Bra's third annual eBay charity auction, featuring one-of-a-kind handcrafted art bras auctioned on eBay throughout October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader in breast cancer awareness and reasearch, through eBay Giving Works.
An all-volunteer endeavor, Bling My Bra was founded in 2009 by eBay seller Beth Cherkowsky (depressionglasswarehouse), who believed in the power of a small group of women working together to make a difference. Nearly $3,000 was raised that first year by a dedicated cadre of eBay sellers who donated blinged bras they created themselves.
In 2010, Bling My Bra grew to include bras blinged by corporations and celebrities as well as by individuals working on their own or as part of a Bling My Bra party. Custom bra artists were enlisted to create bras on behalf of those who simply wished to contribute a theme or idea, while eBay, Inc. came on board with a Bling My Bra employee contest that awarded an iPad to the eBay employee who blinged the highest-selling bra. Auction proceeds more than doubled, with over $6,000 donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
This year’s Advisory Board includes Bling My Bra founder, Beth Cherkowsky; Danna Crawford, founder/CEO of PowerSellingMom, Inc. a Top-rated Seller on eBay and recipient of the Golden Ribbon Award from eBay Giving Works; Eric Gazin, founder/CEO of Auction Cause, the premiere cause marketing auction management company; Lee Mirabal, CEO of Voicemarketing, Inc., co-host of eBay Radio, and a breast cancer survivor; platinum eBay PowerSeller, ecommerce expert, and blogger John “ColderIce” Lawson.; Joyce Banbury, longtime eBay seller, eBay Education Specialist and Certified Business Consultant, and organizer of the Kansas Jubilee: eBay to Ecommerce; and ecommerce authority and Yahoo! Stores expert Shawna Fennell.
Bling My Bra parties are in the works nationwide, with eBay, Inc. again sponsoring an in-house employee competition. Bra artists stand ready to unleash their talents and skills for the benefit of breast cancer awareness and research. With a requested bra submission deadline of September 15 for eBay auctions beginning October 1 and continuing daily throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bling My Bra's Board of Directors is now actively recruiting additional contributors and participants.
