Macraigor Systems Announces Support for New ARM, PowerPC, AMD and Marvell Processors
New CPU support providing maximum choices for new-product development. Eclipse tool suite with GNU is pre-built with example projects.
San Jose, CA, April 02, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Macraigor Systems LLC today announced additional support for several new processor chips in the ARM, PowerPC, AMD and Marvell families. The debugging and control of these chips will be supported by all Macraigor debug software solutions when used with the OCDemon family of products. The OCDemon products offer the industry’s most advanced, yet price-sensitive, solution for the designing, debugging and programming of hardware designs and application software.
Macraigor has added software support for the following processor chips:
- ARM Cortex-M3 family of CPUs produced by Luminary Micro and other manufacturers for use in high-performance, low-cost products such as wireless networking and automotive controls
- Freescale MPC 83xx PowerQUICC II Pro family of high-end communication and networking processors
- AMD Geode GX/LX processors used for embedding low-power, high-performance x86 architecture in consumer and industrial devices
- Marvell PXA3xx family (Monahans), the third generation of Intel’s XScale family, for high-end communication and video devices.
Any of these CPUs may be debugged alone or in conjunction with numerous supported flash memory parts using Macraigor software solutions.
Advanced, Price-Sensitive Embedded Debug Solution
Macraigor Systems offers a complete Eclipse tool suite bundled with GNU tools and pre-built with example projects at no cost on the Macraigor Systems website. Additional software debugging solutions for programming and debugging hardware designs and application software are also available from Macraigor Systems [or on the Macraigor Systems site]. These include the price-sensitive JSCAN boundary scan debug tool, JTAG Commander, Flash Programming tools, the OCD Commander, Target Access, and OCD Remote solutions.
The OCD Commander offers an easy-to-use debugger providing Graphical User Interface (GUI) access for manipulation of the CPU (run, halt, reset) and its associated registers and memories. The JTAG Commander is a GUI based application for low-level control of a JTAG enabled target. JSCAN is a powerful GUI application for debug of target hardware via JTAG enabling one to test for open, shorts and other problems under BGA devices and elsewhere as well as programming FPGAs and EEPROMS for gate arrays. OCD Remote is Macraigor Systems’ offering for debugging with Eclipse/GNU tools GDB. OCD Remote and the OCD Commander are available for debugging on both Windows and Linux platforms.
Industry-Leading Flash Programming Solution
The OCDemon Flash Programmer includes a GUI application for performing a variety of programming and debugging functions on flash parts. The GUI interface provides high-level interaction for debugging and programming the contents of flash connected to the target CPU.
Debugging functionality includes blank checking and checksumming both specific ranges and the entire contents of flash memory. Programming functionality includes erasing, filling a range with a pattern, programming from a file and verification against a file. This functionality is also offered in a DLL using Flash Access, which is well suited for automated environments. The DLL may be called from custom applications written in Delphi, C/C++ or Visual Basic programming language. A batch-file interface is also provided. The OCDemon Flash Programmer is available for both Windows and Linux platforms.
Pricing & Availability
The OCDemon family of debug tools is immediately available for the ARM, AMD, Marvell and PowerPC processors. The OCDemon Flash Programmer, Flash Access and Target Access are each $500 for the first license, and incremental licenses are $100 USD each. JSCAN is $1895 and JTAG Commander is $395. The OCD Commander (an assembly-level software debugger) OCD Remote, and Eclipse and GNU tool suites are available at no charge from the Macraigor website.
