Indie ArtHouse Features "Amazing Arizona Comics" by KaraokeFanboy Press
Phoenix, AZ, August 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Friday, August 19, 2011, Indie ArtHouse will feature the art of "Amazing Arizona Comics," a locally self-published mini-comic about superheroes experiencing real current events in Arizona. "Amazing Arizona Comics" is by Russ Kazmierczak, Jr.
"When I moved back to Phoenix, Arizona was making national headlines about our immigration bill and gun ownership rights, which was very controversial and complicated, so I thought the best way to help myself understand them was to tell these real stories through a medium I Do understand -- superhero comics."
Kazmierczak has published four issues of "Amazing Arizona Comics" to date, with topics ranging from SB 1070, Jan Brewer's performance at last year's governor's debate, and Sheriff Joe Arpaio's celebrity posse.
"Sheriff Joe and Governor Brewer are definitely in the comic," Kazmierczak confirmed. "Since the stories my characters experience are based on real headlines. The real people involved would have to be there, too."
Superhero characters like Speed Cameron, a living speed camera, and June Monsoon are based on cultural staples in Arizona, and with more characters like Sam Brero and the Snow Bird to come.
The Indie ArtHouse gallery will feature the covers of the mini-comics, supplemental art, and on opening night (6 p.m. to 10 p.m.), musical performances by Robin Graves, Serene Dominic, and Dakota Slim.
