Secret Love Endures: Saving Snowflakes in My Pocket Published by Outskirts Press
Like finding a perfect rose and bending over to inhale its fragrance, Jonathon is unable to resist his brother’s wife, nor can he reveal to her his long held secret, in Barbara Jean Ruther’s new contemporary romance about deception, love and destiny.
Santa Fe, NM, August 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Author and poet Barbara Jean Ruther announced today the release of Saving Snowflakes in My Pocket, A Story of Love, published by Outskirts Press. Ruther takes her readers on the well-crafted saga of the loyal family bond between the two Stevens brothers, Michael and Jonathon, a bond never threatened by Jonathon’s love for Michael’s wife, Sarah, nor by the secret the two share about Jonathon being the biological father of Sarah’s two children.
Rich, model-handsome lawyer Michael Stevens has just ended a brief and regrettable marriage to a conniving woman, her eyes on his family fortune, and has moved to an austere cabin in the Catskills surrounded by nature to work on his recovery. After a year of the solitude and simplicity of the mountains, Michael’s attention begins to flow outward again and lights on Sarah Harris, a newly arrived neighbor who spends her summers in the renewing arms of nature.
She reads poetry to him and he cooks freshly caught fish for her. Throughout the next winter they continue their relationship through letters and the next summer they marry in a fairy tale wedding on the grounds of his family’s mansion.
When Michael finds out his sperm is too weak for Sarah to conceive, Michael asks his brother Jonathon to donate his sperm for Sarah’s in vitro fertilization. Sarah is never told.
Jonathon is a single adoptive father himself, but as he watches Sarah carry the twins, his biological children, he feels himself being drawn closer and closer to their mother. As the children grow and he participates in their lives, he begins more and more to obsess about the deceit of his sperm donation and about his equally secret feelings for his brother’s wife.
One catastrophe and then one almost impossible misunderstanding end up separating Jonathon and Sarah, and she refuses all his phone calls, too embarrassed to talk to him again. Only the actions of their children heal all and bring an unexpectedly happy conclusion to this newest romantic fiction by author Ruther.
