For the Third Year Running, Central Scholarship Awards Over $1 Million in Scholarships and Interest-Free Loans
Baltimore, MD, August 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Two hundred fifty students will receive awards from Central Scholarship totaling over $1 million this coming fall. The students were selected from a record breaking pool of applicants with over 5,300 students applying in 2011. Central Scholarship has committed over $1 million to students annually since 2009.
For 87 years, Central Scholarship has provided interest-free loans and scholarships to postsecondary students in Maryland. Awards are made for students pursuing undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees as well as vocational and career training. These competitive awards are based on financial need and academic merit. For many students, the funding they receive from Central Scholarship can make the difference in their ability to attend their chosen institution.
“We believe that education is a right and not a privilege,” says Jan Wagner, President of Central Scholarship. “Motivated students who have worked hard to get into a school of their choice should not be denied for financial reasons. We are honored to assist these talented individuals.”
Central Scholarship also works to help students and families make wise financial decisions about paying for college.
