Downtown L.A. Artists To Be Showcased at the Annual Open Studios Art Fair at Factory Place Lofts
LoftLivingLA.com proudly sponsors this year's Open Studios Art Fair at Factory Place Lofts in Downtown Los Angeles, to be held Sat. and Sun., Nov. 12 and 13, 2005, from 12 PM to 6PM. Free admission.
Los Angeles, CA, October 13, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Ever want a taste of the artist's life in a live/work loft space in Downtown Los Angeles? LoftLivingLA.com is sponsoring this year's Open Studios Art Fair at the Factory Place Lofts in the Artist District of Downtown L.A. Each year the Art Fair features the unique work of each of the multi-talented artists residing in the Factory Place Lofts (www.FactoryPlaceOpenStudios.com). It is an opportunity not only to meet the artists in person but to be inspired as well in their own creative spaces.
This year, the Open Studios Art Fair will showcase over 18 artists, from painters to sculptors to photographers. On one floor of this converted paper factory from the mid-1920s, you can meet Arlington "Art" Jordan who, with his 40-year background in offset lithography, has been creating unique monotypes since 1995.
Then, sprint up a flight of stairs (or better yet, ride the monolithic, industrial-sized elevator) to the next floor and introduce yourself to Joanne Balak, whose paintings, drawings and mixed media works may provide the perfect decor to spruce up your walls. Her husband Fred Balak displays his hand-crafted woodwork and unique, custom furniture pieces. And if these two don't inspire you enough, simply enjoy their "lofty" loft space, which will be featured in an upcoming book called "L.A. Lofts" in 2006.
But be sure not to miss their neighbor's gummi bear chandelier created by Taiwan-born, Yaya Chou, an award-winning animator as well as a sculptor and painter. When you meet this artist face-to-face, be sure to ask about her latest gummi bear sculpture.
The artists' unique creations will be available for purchase during the Open Studios Art Fair. Food and refreshments will be provided. You can also expect a silent auction benefiting the non-profit organization EqualitySource.org. You can bid on some of the artists' work, restaurant gift certificates, and many other goodies. If you feel lucky, throw your name in the raffle awarding large prize gift bags of art.
Ted Trent, partner of LoftLivingLA.com, encourages everyone to attend. "This is a perfect opportunity to peek into the private spaces of Downtown loft dwellers, to see where they live, create and work." Whether you're interested in art, urban loft living, or just want to explore what Downtown has to offer, the Open Studios Art Fair makes for a perfect afternoon.
The Open Studios Art Fair will be held at Factory Place Lofts, 1308 Factory Place in Downtown Los Angeles (near Alameda and 6th St.) on Saturday and Sunday, November 12 and 13th from 12 PM to 6 PM. Admission is free.
