Mathews, NC, August 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- IRI Golf Group’s commitment to our men and women in uniform continues to set a precedent for excellence. First with IRI Golf’s Stars and Stripes tournament and now with their participation in the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, the company has shown unwavering support of the soldiers who fight for and protect our freedom.
The Cell Phones for Soldiers program’s aim is to turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas. In order to do so, the program collects cell phone through its network of collection sites across the country, of which every single one of IRI Golf Group’s courses are.
IRI Golf Group estimates that most Americans have old cell phones lying around gathering dust and taking up space. By donating them to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, they are converted into prepaid calling cards. Each cell phone donated is good for one hour of prepaid calling time for soldiers stationed abroad. It is estimated that Americans replace roughly 130 million cell phones each year and IRI Golf Group hopes it can be a significant contributor to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program.
