IGrowMe Announces Release of Its First Bi-lingual English-Russian Android App/e-book for Children

Miami, FL, August 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Florida-based iGrowMe has announced the launch of its first Android bi-lingual app/e-book for children, Completely Opposite. Prepared in cooperation with an Android developer SimplyWorks, Completely Opposite is an interactive and narrated e-book designed to introduce young children to a foreign language from an early age. This first bilingual app/e-book is the first in the series of bi-lingual (and later – multi-lingual) apps/ebooks from iGrowMe.

“The idea to create these apps came to me when I realized that children can benefit from not only having the books read to them by their parents, but also from hearing the native accents for the languages,” said Margarita Gokun Silver, one of the collaborators behind iGrowMe. “There are not that many resources out there for English-Russian bilingual content for children, but Russian-speaking parents are very much interested in teaching their children a foreign language from an early age. Our apps/books will allow the children of Russian speakers read, listen and repeat with a native narrator – and they will also allow English-speaking parents who are interested in the Russian language teach their kids that language.”

The Completely Opposite app/e-book invites children to listen, read along and learn either Russian or English pronunciation of concepts. There are three ways to read this application: (1) “read to me” allows the child to listen to the narration in the language of their choice with words highlighted as they are read; (2) “help me read it” allows the child to click each word and repeat after the narrator; and (3) “bi-lingual reading” allow the child to listen to the narration of one language and switch languages to hear the same page read in another language. Additional Features include: (a) Sound /Word association — words are highlighted as they are spoken; (b) Repeat feature – clicking the word will activate the pronunciation of the word; (c) Picture/Word association – clicking the picture will activate the pronunciation of the word; (d) Native-speaker audio narration; (e) Child-friendly rhymes; (f) Child-friendly images and narration.
