Museum of Discovery and Science Offers Free Smart Watts Home Energy Saver Workshops to Fort Lauderdale Residents

During the workshops, participants will discover the importance of home energy surveys as well as learn tips, tools and resources for conserving energy and water. They will develop a personal home energy savings plan that can reduce their utility bills by 15 to 30 percent. Eligible attendants will receive a free Home Energy Saver toolkit valued at $100. Proof of Fort Lauderdale residency and commitment to conserve is required to receive a toolkit, limit of one toolkit per household.
The Home Energy Saver Workshop program is one of three Smart Watts programs offered by the City of Fort Lauderdale to reduce utility consumption and improve energy conservation. In addition to the Museum’s workshops, Smart Watts includes an Energy Efficiency Rebate Program and a Homeowner Energy Efficiency Loan Program. About the Museum of Discovery and Science
The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs and films. Founded in 1976 as The Discovery Center, the nonprofit facility serves approximately 450,000 visitors annually. Major operational support for the Museum is provided through generous support by Leadership Guild members including: JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Broward Health, Sun-Sentinel and Wachovia.
The Museum is open seven days a week, 365 days a year; Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. with extended IMAX® hours on most evenings. General Admission prices are $16 for adults; $15 for seniors; $12 for children 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free. A General Admission Ticket includes admission to the Museum exhibits and one 45-minute IMAX film.
