The New Children's Book by the Award-Winning Author Tom S. Figueiredo
The Editora Cedraz publishing house is launching I remember my circus, a children’s book by the award-winning author Tom S. Figueiredo, in which the narrator tells of a memory about the arrival of a mysterious and uncommon circus in the city when he was a child. The Editora Cedraz specializes in the publication of titles for children and youth and has been bestowed with UNESCO’s acknowledgement for one of its literary projects which included comic books.
New York, NY, September 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Editora Cedraz publishing house is launching I remember my circus, a children’s book by the award-winning author Tom S. Figueiredo, in which the narrator tells of a memory about the arrival of a mysterious and uncommon circus in the city when he was a child. It is a moving story about impossible dreams, empathy and love, that introduces us to intriguing characters such as an unhappy gorilla-woman, and a man able to, literally, carry the world inside of him. The illustrations were created by graphic artist Sidney Falcão.
I remember my circus is the English version of the work originally written in Portuguese, in Brazil. All proceeds from the sales were donated to GACC-Ba (Support Group for Children with Cancer for the state of Bahia, Brazil).

Author Tom S. Figueiredo is 38 years-old and lives in Brazil, where he has been professionally writing comic books, TV scripts and plays for children and teenagers for over twelve years. For many years, Tom was the main scriptwriter for A Turma do Xaxado, by Antonio Cedraz, awarded with six HQ MIX awards, in the Best Children´s Comic Book and Best Children’s Graphic Novel categories. HQ MIX is one of the most important awards in Latin America, considered the Brazilian version of the Oscar for comic books. Titles from great companies such as Marvel and DC Comics also participate in this award.
Tom is also the author of Peter and the fire snake (Pedro e a cobra-de-fogo), a tale for children, which received the Funarte Dramaturgy Award, as well as the Myriam Muniz Theater Award, both organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture. The production of the homonymous play won in two categories at the Braskem Theather Award: Best Script (competing with plays for adults) and Best Children’s Play.
The screenplay for Peter and the fire snake participated in the SESC Rio Screenwriters Lab 2008, an event originally made in partnership with the Sundance Institute (USA), which in this edition counted on the presence of Michael Goldenberg (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) as well as Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
In I remember my circus, Tom S. Figueiredo presents us with one more of his children’s stories, which does not underestimate their intelligence and perhaps, for this same reason, has equally captivated older readers.
