Safari & Wildlife is Top Activity Holiday According to Travel Study
A survey of 3,300 UK travellers who attended a number of travel shows revealed that the top type of activity holiday is: Safari & Wildlife.
London, United Kingdom, September 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- According to a recent study by Activity & Adventure Holidays, Safari & Wildlife is the top type of activity holiday for UK travellers!
The survey of 3,300 UK travellers who attended a number of travel shows* revealed that ten per cent were particularly keen on taking a Safari & Wildlife holiday.
“Popular countries for safari & wildlife holidays are primarily in Africa with South Africa a top destination for UK travellers,” states Ursula Barzey, Marketing Director, Activity & Adventure Holidays.
“Wildlife & safari holidays are increasingly popular because they offer travellers the opportunity to, not only step out of their everyday lives, but also to experience nature in a truly unique way,” explains Ntsiki Mpulo, Marketing and Communications Manager (UK) for the South African Tourism Board.
Mpulo goes on to say: “A safari in South Africa offers visitors a close and personal encounter with nature’s most awe-inspiring creatures. Increasingly, visitors are able to enjoy a variety of safari experiences including walking or cycling and photographic safaris. Few destinations can deliver the thrill of hearing a lion roaring in the distance while you enjoy a sundowner atop a hill and watch the sun set over the bush.”
The top ten activities overall as expressed by UK holiday travellers were: Safari & Wildlife (10%), Sightseeing & Museums (9%), Hiking, Trekking & Walking (8%), Whale & Dolphin Watching (5%), Cycling (5%), Cruises (5%), Hot Air Ballooning (4%), Wine & Cookery (4%), Diving & Snorkelling (4%) and Climbing (4%).
