Raleigh, NC, October 13, 2005 --(PR.com)-- The N.C. Department of Transportation reminds motorists traveling to the N.C. State Fair that work continues on the U.S. 1/64 widening project in Cary. Motorists can expect nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, and 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.

To make the drive to the N.C. State Fair easier and safer, the department reminds motorists that construction news and up-to-date travel information can be accessed through the project web site www.US1Wake.com or by calling the project information line at 888-303-3101.

When visiting the project web site, click on the “Traffic Control” page for more information on nightly lane closures. This information is updated weekly to ensure the most accurate schedule. Please keep in mind unforeseen influences, such as weather, can require a last minute change in the lane closure schedule. You can also click on the “Smartzone” page to access real-time travel messages, Smartzone cameras in the project area, and other traffic information. The NCDOT invites motorists to visit the project web site to sign up to receive monthly e-mail updates about the U.S. 1/64 widening project. If motorists would like a printed copy of the monthly updates, they can call the project information line at 888-303-3101.
