Passage Home Receives $233,688 Donation from Sunshine Lady Foundation
Donation to Help Harriet’s House Re-Entry Program
Raleigh, NC, September 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Passage Home, a nonprofit agency fighting poverty and homelessness in Wake County, has announced that it received a $233,688 donation from the Sunshine Lady Foundation. This donation will go toward the “Harriet’s House” program, a Passage Home venture that helps previously incarcerated women with children re-enter society.
Harriet’s House, named after Harriet Tubman, houses women and their children for up to six months while the mothers learn job training and life skills that are needed to be self-sufficient citizens and supportive parents. Since 1996, Harriet’s House has served more than 120 ex-offenders and their families with an 80-85 percent success rate.
Quotes:
“We are honored to receive this donation from the Sunshine Lady Foundation,” said Jeanne Tedrow, CEO and co-founder of Passage Home. “Harriet’s House provides a much needed service to the local community and without this donation, we would have had to shut the program down.”
“Passage Home is an excellent example of an organization that is truly committed to helping our local community by providing a hand up, not a handout,” said William Buckner, Bayer CropScience executive and a member of Passage Home’s board of directors. “We are proud to be a part of all of Passage Home’s programs and are excited to see the impact that this organization is having on our local community.”
