Ahmedabad Saw a Dip of 11% in Hiring Levels in Jul-11 When Compared to Jun-11 But Witnesses a 13% Jump When Compared with Jul-10: Naukri Job Speak Index
Naukri job speak index is monthly report shows hiring trends across industry sectors, geography and functional areas, Key industry sector of Ahmedabad, IT –Software saw a 11% dip in hiring activity in Jul-11 when compared with Jun-11, Professionals in Software services and Banking saw lower hiring activity in Jul-11, when compared to Jun-11.
Noida, India, August 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Ahmedabad has witnessed a vibrant employment picture in the first half of 2011. This is primarily because the key job creators of the city, IT- Software, Banking and Pharma were hiring at a rapid pace. In Jul-11, the job speak index for Ahmedabad dipped from 1186 in Jun-11 to 1053 in Jul-11, but on a year on year(YOY) comparison the index moved up by 13%. The year on year growth phenomenon holds true for all the other sub- metros in the country as well.
Other progressive non metros of the country Pune and Jaipur have also witnessed dips in their indices by 7% and 11% respectively when compared to the previous month. As the hiring activity in the IT sector has seen some slackening this month, all IT centric cities have also been affected adversely.
"Concerns of a global economic crunch and rising inflationary pressures are acting as a caution sign for India Inc. Therefore recruiters of some sectors are on a wait and watch mode. This does not mean that companies have frozen hiring, but they are certainly not going overboard. While there is some caution in the near term, medium term indicators for hiring remain positive which was even reflected in the hiring outlook survey where 78% recruiters said that new jobs will be created in the second half of 2011," said Hitesh Oberoi, Managing Director and CEO, Info Edge India.
An in-depth analysis of the job index shows the major sectors in the city have shown fluctuations in their hiring activity. Barring Telecom, which witnessed an 8% upward movement in the index, IT Software saw the index dip by 11% in Jul-11 as compared to Jun-11. Banking and Pharma sectors maintained steady hiring levels in July, while Oil and Gas sector saw a 5% dip in hiring activity.
Mirroring trends of the IT- Software, Software professionals saw their monthly index dip by 10% in Jul-11 over Jun-11. The demand for Banking professionals dipped by 10% when compared with last month while Pharma professionals on a national level has seen their demand pick up 9% in Jul-11 over Jun-11.
Thus, on an overall level, Jobs in Ahmedabad seems to have stabilized at an elevated level, though Jul -11 have seen lower hiring activity when compared with Jun-11.
