Medal Play Golf Tour Names Arizona Players of the Year
Scottsdale, AZ, September 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour visited the challenging McCormick Ranch Pines course in Scottsdale Sunday. “The setting for the final was terrific,” said tour director Blane Freytag. “The competition was close in the Championship and Gold divisions that came down to the final day of competition to decide the Players of the Year in each division.”
Todd Ringsmuth of the Championship Division returned from vacation rested and focused to shoot a net 69 for the victory. Terry Hopton fired a smooth net 73 for 2nd while tour newcomer Rodney Sadler took 3rd.
The Gold Division saw John Saager bookend his season by ending where he started, in the winner’s circle. Saager started the season with a victory at ASU Karsten and ended the season with the victory at McCormick Ranch. Jerry Boysen and Dennis Kindred shared runner up honors with net 72’s.
In the Silver Division, Al Mayhew continued his hot streak by winning his second event in a row. Mayhew will start the 2012 season in the Gold division where he will compete quite well. Matt Horner took 2nd while Bill Leto finished 3rd.
This event concluded the “Summer Sizzle” series and the Player of the Year races in each division.
Todd Ringsmuth overtook Joe White for Player of the Year honors with his victory today in the Championship division. White finished second after a fine season.
John Saager gave season points leader Jerry Boysen a scare with his victory today, but came up just short. Boysen secured Player of the Year honors for the Gold division with a runner up finish in today’s tournament. Tim Lutz came in 3rd.
Matt Horner of the Silver division cruised to Player of the Year honors by way of his 5 victories over the course of the season.
Congratulations to all the winner’s today, both the event winner’s and the Players of the Year.
The tour returns to action with the Tour Championship September 10-11 at The LaQuinta Resort in La Quinta, CA.
