Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County Receives $25,000 Contribution from Farr Law Firm in Memoriam of Earl Drayton Farr, Jr.
At the one year anniversary of his passing, firm recognizes Drayton Farr’s dedication to the welfare of animals.
Punta Gorda, FL, September 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Farr Law Firm commemorates the passing of firm pioneer Earl Drayton Farr, Jr. with a donation of $25,000 to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County. Throughout his life, Mr. Farr was a passionate supporter of the organization through his volunteer efforts and financial contributions. He also adopted two cats from the AWL.
Farr was a dedicated counselor, advocate and community leader throughout his 59 years as an attorney. After graduating from the University of Florida Law School in 1951, he joined the firm his father founded in 1924. Farr’s work was instrumental in the development of areas such as Punta Gorda Isles and Boca Grande. As general counsel for Babcock Florida Company, he represented his client in the sale of Babcock Ranch -- the largest state acquisition of private land in Florida history.
Farr was deeply committed to the Charlotte County community, and during his career he served as member and president of the Charlotte County Bar Association, president of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce, president of the Punta Gorda Kiwanis, director, officer and general counsel of Punta Gorda Isles, general counsel and board member of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Charlotte County, director of First of America, Punta Gorda City Attorney, and general counsel and officer of Sunset Realty Corp.
Sharon Thomas, Executive Director of the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County expressed the organization’s gratitude: “The Animal Welfare League is extremely appreciative of this donation. It allows us to revamp our feline infirmary with much needed equipment that will provide the quality of care the cats deserve.”
The Animal Welfare League’s mission is to place healthy cats and dogs into forever homes, and the planned improvements to the feline infirmary will help make cats healthy and ready for adoption.
“We all miss Mr. Farr very much. He was a constant presence in our lives, and laid the foundation for everything we do here at the Firm. We are pleased to make this contribution to an organization that he cared passionately about,” said David Holmes, managing partner of Farr Law Firm.
