The Chairmen’s RoundTable Names Jeff Campbell Interim Head; Mourns Sudden Passing of Dave Cox
San Diego, CA, September 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Chairmen’s RoundTable, a non-profit organization that provides pro-bono mentoring and strategic advice to San Diego businesses, appointed Jeff Campbell interim chairperson following the sudden passing of Dave Cox.
Cox, 63, served as head of the organization from January of this year until suffering a fatal heart attack last Saturday.
"All of us are shocked and saddened at the unexpected loss of our leader, our mentor and our friend," said Campbell. "Our focus right now is to dedicate our thoughts, prayers and support to Dave’s family as we continue the mission to strengthen San Diego – one company at a time. He wouldn’t want it any other way."
A member of the Chairmen’s RoundTable since 2006, Cox was Co-Founder, President and CEO of MedUnite, an Internet-based healthcare transaction processing company that linked leading insurers to hospitals and physicians groups to provide real time service authorizations, claims processing and electronic payments. Launched in 2000, he grew the company into a $20 million, 100 million transactions per year business when it was sold in 2003. Prior to that, Cox served Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Science Application International Corporation (SAIC). He built the Fortune 500 Company’s healthcare business unit from $30 million per year in 1988 to $500 million annually in 2000. Cox was also the Assistant Director of the Selective Service System, Director of Management Services for the U.S. Department of Education and the Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Veterans Administration during President Ronald Reagan’s Administration. He received a bachelor’s of science from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1970 and completed the Senior Government Manager’s Program from Harvard University in 1983.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday at The Village Community Presbyterian Church, 6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067. All are invited to attend.
